Pearl Jam is an alternative music group in the 90s. They have flown to the top in #1 bands and have really made a name for themselves among the many youths in todays society.

Pearl Jams lead singer Eddie Vedder has been the top singer in the alternative singing industy as of late. His popularity as gone past that of Curt Cobain, who was another lead singer to an alternative group in the 90s. A memeber of the music group Nirana, Curt ended up killing himself because of reasons that are unknown. Eddie however, has stayed where he is and is a role modle to the youths in todays society. With the great lyrics sung by Eddie Vedder, and the beautifully played music by Mike McCready, Jack Irons, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament there is absolutely no reason why the youth shouldn't turn to them as role models. Eddie Vedder has written Pearl Jams songs to the new Generation by telling society how life is as a Youth. In one of their newest songs titled "Habit" Eddie is directly describing the youth of the 90s by directly saying in his song "Speaking of a child in the 90s".Past songs have really touched not only the youth but the past generationites. Songs like "Black" off of their first album titled "Ten" that describes depression, or songs like "Betterman" off of their third album titled "Vitalogy" that describe love. Songs like "WMA" off of their second album titled "Vs" which describe racial issues. If you took the lyrics written by Eddie and really took an in depth look at it, you could see the art and skill that he is presenting. Eddie directs all if not most of his songs to the youth and new generation of our time. And with sell out crowds wherever they play at and increasing popularity, its a wonder at how big they will really become. They have also become great role models because they speak to the public like people my age would. Since they are so popular, and people will listen, they can really speak their mind. And the mind that they do speak is exactly the same. They do this in songs like "Nothingman" off of their third album. It describes how a man is living life but it is bringing him down a lot. Depression is what got him. That in some ways describes how I feel sometimes and it really is just amazing how much I can relate to most of their songs.

Overall, Pearl Jam is indeed one of the top groups in the industry right now, and with their great listening music and supberb lyrics, they are indeed a huge influence on todays soceity.
